Is it just me or is anyone else sick of seeing photos of Oprah, 5 years ago when she was thin. Maybe she doesn't realize, she does not look like that anymore and she is on TV every day so we all know she isn't thin like that. It's kind of like the Obits, where family posts photos of their loved ones from 50 years ago? I don't get it, I wouldn't recognize someone I worked with from a 50 year old photo??? My thinking on Oprah is she had a zillion photos taken for the cover of O magazine while she was thin, but come on, "get real" as her buddy Dr. Fill, (yeah I know I ) would say, be the REAL you. hhhmmmmm Is Oprah sending mixed signals to our youth. It's funny but I found a photo of a cheesecake shot taken, about 14 years ago, if I were to show it , your jaw would drop and you would look at me in disbelief. I know it!!!!, the jaw dropping only verifies the fact that yes, I have gained weight and gotten 17 years older, it is fun to see the expression or the "is that you?" LOL Hey but I was HOT once, I had it, been there done that, it didn't get me a good husband, lots of money or success??? But look at me now, I am older, wiser, doing what I love, fat and successful? and so is Oprah, why then does she not want to embrace it as a fact of life?? Ok so I am not as successful as she is but it's the idea. I dreamed this 30 years ago, and I am doing what I love, yeah Menopause hit me with the fat stick, a few times more than it needed to...I'll use that as an excuse but eh....I fought the fat battle my whole won!!! Someone has to win, someone has to loose. We all look at Movie stars and think "man they are so thin, they look so good" we have to remember it is their JOB so staying thin and looking good all the time IS THEIR JOB. not mine. Then there is the fact that in their pursuit of looking good they are damaging the beauty they once had in favor of plastic faces, that only make them look Monsterish, and not growing old gracefully. There are facts of life, you will get older, there is nothing you can do about it, from birth you start aging, either you fight it or embrace it. Now that doesn't mean lay down and die because it is inevitable, but let's do this thing gracefully. We are all going up the same path...and I worked for every wrinkle I have....

Mr Magoo and the Remote

Ok, this is true confessions....we walked early this morning, it was kind of dark, well between dark and light, I think it's called Dawn. I am thrilled when I hear the Cardinal birds singing and I could hear one really close. So hear I am walking and looking at a tree that is very close to me, talking to the bird that is singing his heart out and saying "Oh don't you sing so pretty this early morn....." I was talking to an apple that was hanging on branch for dear life since Fall!! No one saw me but all I could think of was Mr Magoo, he would talk to stuff that was totally something me Magoo!!!!
Now the remote, for the last week, I am doing couch Olympics with the remote. I hold it over my head pointed to the right, with an swirl underhand and then it may work. I also found that if you press really hard on the buttons, they don't work either....but....mind you, if you change the battery all this gets fixed....who would have thought???? Have a great Saturday

My aching knees & sleepless nights

I have been watching the Olympics...oh my.....the moguls have my knees crying out in pain and the speed skating is making me so wired I can't sleep. How long does this go on???? The sad thing is the girls were in the shoot and the commentator is saying, she has had 6 knee surgeries and is still my knees were great when I was a kid, I jumped out of trees. Slid down ice slopes on them, and then as I got older spent many hours kneeling on cold concrete installing baseboard heating. I also fell and smashed my knee and it brought tears to my eyes. I have not had surgery yet, but what I did back then is paining me now. My point is what are they going to do when they turn 50???? Wow, I can't imagine the pain they will be in.
I am finally binding off on my silk merino scarf, it is beautiful. I can't wait to wear it close to my neck. Well back to editing the DVD and wrapping things up here.

Starting to notice

I thought I heard something the other day, it was a little warmer, but it was a beautiful sound. Then while walking the other day I heard an old sound.....I searched for it's source and found nothing. Today...alas today, for Valentines, I found the beautiful red bird, singing and sending out his song. He was singing and singing and I kept getting closer hoping to find him, and there he was sitting on a small tree, watching Iggy and I walk by. I love how red they are compared to the brown and white of Winter, I love how their song plays out. I love how this may mean that Spring is in the air....I love the snow, but am getting tired of the cold. Today I am working on the DVD for Spinning Art yarn. so much to do...Happy Valentines day!!!

False hope

I see these beautiful blogs of beautiful food photos and I am starting to believe they are purchased clip come I can do so much and can't bake or cook???? I fail, flat on my face fail when trying to do something great with food. I did take a photo of pancakes once that were beautiful...ends there. This my friends is why they have restaurants!!!! So I decided, I would try to slowly get rid of white sugar and flour in my diet. I buy Breadsmiths whole wheat bread and I think it may be $2??? a loaf, maybe more?? I could actually pay $10.00 after yesterday and it would still be cheap. So Monday I do the grocery shopping and even went to Barnes and Noble seeking out the best WW recipe.....I knew as I held the Artisan Bread cookbook in my hand, that I could open it, look at the beautiful photos and it would go on a shelf with all the rest of my False hope books. So I put it back into the shelf and left, I actually did leave B&N, without a purchase, not even chocolates!!! I know I know....
Yesterday, I figured no one would be in the shop and boy was I right, so I started to make bread. I contacted a great baker "Hello Yarn at her blog and asked for the best recipes she would recommend. She sent me three and told me the middle one would leave more time to play if I use that one, no kneading. OK so it is something called Anadama bread, a dark rich bread derived from our Native American ancestors, hey I'm Indian, this is the one for me...if they ate it I can make it...the blood line goes deep. I assemble all of the stuff I need and it goes together easy peasy...I can hear the drums beating in the distance, a closeness to my roots as I leave the bread rise....I follow the directions and let it "rest" covered loosely. done....still no customers so this is going along just fine. 1 1/2 hours later I start the oven put my stone in the oven and water pan below. I divide the bread batter into four separate puddles, that slightly resemble cowpies....brush water on the top and slice with a serrated knife, place on the cookie sheet on top of the stone and let it bake. I hear the cry of my ancestors, an eagle flies over...there is a smell of baking bread and sage in the air. 30 min later, I have made my first cowpie? That is Ok, it is healthy, I take it out of the oven, pop in the next loaf and try to take the bread off of the pan.....what the heck did I superglue this thing on here???? Come on it's still hot, I hear a crack, I start to pry my way around the edge and just like in the TV commercial, it flies like an otter in a river, unto the teepee floor. It didn't crack, it didn't crumble it didn't do anything...I pick it up and put it on a plate, get out the hatchet and attempt to saw through the concrete chunk. Above photo!! I try to figure out how to cut it, or maybe I should just break it...not happening.....I finally put some butter on it and eat tastes like a huge molasses cookie that I forgot to put the sugar in.....I think my Native American family and I would rather stick to corn bread....I now have three other loaves stuck to the pans and nothng is going to move them.....False hope!!!!! I need to take my own advice and "Stick to what you are good at!!" and it ain't cooking!!! I'm going to go spin for a while,
I turned off the Native American music.....false hope

Laser twitching

So yesterday, Iggy and I went to visit his Aunt, Uncle and fur cousins. We went to watch the Super Bowl and we were all on the same page as far as the Saints were concerned. Iggy and his cousins don't get along real great, well the cousins tolerate him they are not that all. As a matter of fact they kind of hate him..he annoys them. So my brother got out his laser pointer and had the Igster running around like crazy, he was panting, Iggy not my brother, but then Iggy started twitching in all directions looking for the red light....he had to catch that light and his head was going back and forth trying to find it....Oh no, my poor dog has Laser withdrawel. He would not give up, just goes to show you how persistant a terrier really is.

I dislike plastic bags

Why do I hate them. I first noticed them in Arizona, I was on vacation and it was Spring, the cactus were blooming and they were decorated with plastic grocery bags. Ugly bags stuck to the cactus. I thought long and hard about my shop bags and bought pretty bags that most people reuse, over and over again, they are purple and reusable. I try to bring my cloth bags to the grocery store, or I recycle the plastic bags they give me. Why do people let those bags fly around to litter. This time of year when the snow melts it looks especially bad, the snow uncovers the worst of the ugly trash hidden below. Please if you read this, please, help do a little for our beautiful Earth. Don't flick that cigarette butt, don't throw that plastic bottle on the roadside, and don't let those ugly plastic bags get loose. So the great event at the end of this month is taking shape. Or it is taking a shape of it's own I should say. I have lots of fun things planned and new vendors and teachers. Sign up for classes is great, and there are lots of yarners coming from Illinois and all around the state. I am anxious to meet so many new faces. Welcome welcome welcome.
Crochet these from those ugly bags!!!!! LOL
